A couple weeks ago I was getting ready for the day, threw on my lipstick and ran out the door. All of a sudden I had the worst taste in my mouth. I am sitting there racking my mind, trying to think what I may have eaten or what could be causing this, then I realized! My lipstick.
My lipstick was bad! Expired? I instantly took it off my lips and took out the tube and looked it. This lipstick cost me $24.00 and I had only used it once or twice before... and now... it was trash.
I have spent the last few years buying makeup. I have decided I need to focus the next few on wearing it! I need to use some of my favorite items before they expire and become UN usable...
Throwing this lipstick away really bothered me. All I can think about, is which of my beloved items am I losing next?
Has this ever happened to you? Have you had products expire before you could finish them?

ya i often face with that as i like buying kits or set where some of the item are not neccessary for me. But the price makes it worth..
i just threw away, 2 gloss and 1 elizabeth arden quad last sat as i feel they kinda spolit..

happens to me all the time lol. ok well not all the time, but last summer I had to dispose some of my lipgloss and lipstick because its due already. Its heartbreakin I know, thats why I try to limit buying lipsticks nowadays. I dont mind eyeshadow because believe me, they last almost forever. I do sanitize them once in awhile so that way the bacteria wont breed on them. But lippies, mascaras, and especially liglosses. (I remember my MAC lustrewhite started turning into brown color and i only used it twice! gross!)
Im actually been craving for some YSL volupte lippie lol, now im having second thoughts! Better pick the right color I guess, something I can use forever.
I haven't had to throw anything away yet!!! But i know it will be soon...i always check to smell my lipsticks and lipglosses when i'm cleaning my makeup area.

This has happened to me too! I suppose I should expect it when I have so much lipstick, but like you say, it's such a waste to buy something, use it a couple of times then have to throw it out.
I need to join you in the effort to use things up over the next 2 years.
I never finish any makeup item in my life, even samples. Skincare, I've finished a few but they are rare exceptional. I hate to throw lipsticks away but if they turn waxy and smell bad, it's time for them to go. I've found Estee Lauder lipsticks to go bad faster than other brands, I don't know why.

I never, ever finish anything! Its so frustrating! I have some really old lipsticks I know I should throw away but I just can't bring myself to do it, especially when they are expensive. Thankfully, loose powders don't expire, so most of my makeup will be there for a long time!
nope, and i tried not to throw any lippies.. so i push my self to use them, finishing them is one of my goal =)
ohhhhhh nooooooo! i'd cry! and you're brave for throwing it out, i would have just popped in some gum and called it a day. did the lipstick taste funny when u first got it?

I am just trying to buy make-up i need...I am not successful yet...but I know I am going in right direction, because i have not bought any eyeshadow (powder) in past few months...I AM TRYING....:)
My father got me pounds (literally, almost 20 pounds!!) of make-up from a department store that was closing that he did security for.
Sadly, a good portion of that make-up was very old and I had to through it. It pained me so much :(
I'm not sure when things expire, though I do try to keep track of my mascara. In high school I used the same lippie for 4 years and never had a problem with it. Then I lost it. Its the only color that looked good on me =\
whoa!! over 200!! pass me some lol! the only lipstick that had turned on me was the NYC ones which is a shame b/c they were some good reds! I just couldn't stomach the smell anymore!

That's why I don't focus on buying lippies...sticks or glosses - plus they cost a lot, well the ones I use. I couldn't possibly use more than 6 at a time. I do however, I pray to good, hope my eyeshadows don't ever go bad. I buy a lot of those.

yeah, i hate throwing out expired stuff.... but you have to, i'd rather throw it out than keep a bad tasting one...
